Last week after achieving the photos to the standards I was happy with i thought it would be good to make some good progress on my magazine front cover. In Photoshop the past week I have learned that I've been stretching my texts. As a beginner on Photoshop i didn't actually notice this myself so I had to be taught. When you stretch out the text boxes it leaves the text in the box stretched out and the kerning of the texts is larger. I changed the kerning on the text by highlighting it then select the text editing box. I found that it was suitable to have the height of my text as 16 because the size was at 18.
Before this I made the mistake of breaking the 3 colour rule. I used blue red black and yellow. I was swiftly reminded not to do this as it just looks too crowded and like there is too much going on. After changing my text to red and black I came up with the idea to make it more original and changed it to black and white. I noticed the black 'R' and the white 'IDE' on the header worked well so i replicated it on the sell lines.
I eventually decided on a new photo for my front cover as the old photo could have been better. Instead of making the model central to the page and placing my header in the middle above his head. I have moved him slightly to the right so i can fit my header on the left this also means that my longer sells now stand out more.
